Statement of faith

I know that I may not be the best Christian.  Christians, though being called "lights on the hill" or "salt of the earth" are all human.  We're normal people.  We're people that fall into "sin" and doing bad things once in a while like everybody else.  We go through the same struggles and endure the same troubles as you.

So what makes a Christian a Christian?  Faith.  We believe in a God, a Creator, a sense of purpose.  You've heard the phrase John 3:16  so many times that the whole meaning behind it is lost.  A man named Jesus came on earth and died on the cross for your sins.  Go ahead and try to historically deny it.  It won't happen (otherwise, why wouldn't someone else already have these past 2000 years?).  Jesus was God incarnate in human form, living a sinless life, and He even demonstrated his powers in miracles.  This wasn't like any David Blaine, Criss Angel, or whatever magician stuff we have today.  It was real, death-reversing, chemistry-impossible, makes-no-sense miracles.  And guess what?  Nobody believed their eyes when they saw it.  No really, they didn't believe it.  They called Him names like 'false prophet,'  and ostracized him, and killed him in fear of a anti-Roman rebellion since He had a growing amount of followers.  If you saw your dead friend rise up and walk, wouldn't you have enough faith to believe this guy?  Well, people are skeptics and always have been.  But it's ultimately you who chooses what you believe and I respect that.

I would never call anybody stupid to not believe that Jesus is God's own son, even after showing them the evidence.  People have the right to be skeptical and should be analytical of situations.  Question what actually happened.  Do your research to see what you can find.  Go ahead.  And when you find out that Jesus has risen from the dead and the miracles he performed were reported as fact, then decide whether that constitutes looking into what this Jesus guy was preaching.  If you think it doesn't constitute faith, that's cool.  But if you decide to check it out and start to delve into the Bible, Hermeneutics, theology, and history, then that's when your journey begins.

I've jacked up many times in my life and continue to do it more and more.  But I try and try to live a better, holier, ethical life, not in comparison to anybody else, but hopefully for myself to be right in God's eyes.   Why?  Because it's what He wants of his followers and it comes out of believing in Him.  It's that simple.  Believe in God first and foremost, and everything else should come after it.  It has worked for me. And if you're looking for more about life, then my recommendation is to go ahead and question it.
