Statement of faith

I know that I may not be the best Christian.  Christians, though being called "lights on the hill" or "salt of the earth" are all human.  We're normal people.  We're people that fall into "sin" and doing bad things like everybody else.  We go through the same struggles and endure the same troubles as everyone else.  And I accordingly make it a point to NEVER judge or condemn others.

So what makes a Christian a Christian?  Faith in Jesus.  We believe in a God, a Creator, a purpose.  You've heard the phrase John 3:16  so many times that the whole meaning behind it is lost.  God's son, Jesus, came to earth to atone for mankind's sins.  Go ahead and try to historically deny it.  It won't happen (otherwise, why couldn't anyone else have done it these past 2000 years?).  Jesus was God incarnate in human form, living a sinless life, and He even demonstrated his powers in miracles.  This wasn't like any David Blaine, Criss Angel, or whatever magician stuff we have today.  It was real, death-reversing, scientifically-impossible, makes-no-sense miracles.  And guess what?  Nobody believed their eyes when they saw it.  No really, they didn't believe it.  They called Him names like 'false prophet,'  and ostracized him, and killed him in fear of a anti-Roman rebellion. His resurrection is well documented by both Christian and secular accounts.  Anyway, people are skeptics and always have been - even I'm a skeptic.

I would never call anybody stupid to not believe that Jesus is God's own son, even after showing them the evidence.  People have the RIGHT to be skeptical and SHOULD be analytical of all types of situations.  Question what actually happened.  Do your research to see what you can find.  When you find out that Jesus has risen from the dead and the miracles he performed were reported as fact, then it's up to you to decide whether that constitutes looking into what this Jesus guy was preaching.  If you think it doesn't constitute faith, that's cool - keep moving on in life.  But if you decide to check it out and start to delve into the Bible, Hermeneutics, theology, history - then that's when your journey begins.

I've messed up many times before in my life and continue to do it.  But my only drive to live a better, "holier", ethical life, not in comparison to anybody else, but hopefully for myself, is to be right in God's eyes.   Why?  Because it's what He wants of his followers and should be a byproduct of believing in Him.  It's that simple.  I'm no different from you and I would certainly NEVER claim to be better. But if you're looking for more about life, then my recommendation is to question Jesus.
